Tool # 11 Self Assessing and Reflecting

My favorite tool is ipad because students will be eager to use some of the apps which will support organized collaboration inside and outside the classroom.

The 11 tools learning has introduced me to a veriaty of gadgets and apps which will help to improve the learning process for my students.I feel like a kid in the candy store and the feeling is good.

An unexpected outcome was reading what other educators are doing and ready to do in the classroom. The most surprising of all was how may sites one has to sign up for and give out personal infomation.

Tool # 10 Digital Citizenship

Three things I would want to make sure my students understand about being good digital citizena are:
  1. Digital Security--electonic precautions to guarantee safety
  2. Didital communication---electronic exchange of information
  3. Digital etiquette--electonic standards of conduct.

One of the resources mentioned above or on the Ed Tech. website that I plan to use instructionally is Copyright and fair use slide show by Wes Fryer

One way I would teach digital citizenship would be to give each group one section from above sections and have them create powerpoint explaining each topic.

The way I would share the idea of digital citizenship with parents is at back to school night.

Tool # 9 Incorperating Classroom-based devices

The best way to get students actively involved in the learning process is through technology because they are already involed with many of the gadgets and their communication is via most of them.

Students should be held accountable for the centers so that learning time will not be used as play time.

I liked thinkfinity because it has comic creator in which students can creat a comic strip at the end of any project.

The ipad apps I can use in my classroom are photowall proand ibrainstorm.

Tool # 8 Taking a Look at the Tools

As an ipad owner and user for little over siix months, I have only  learned enough to manipulate the device. Two of the many skills I learnrd about ipad device are basic navigation skills and ways to capture images onscrean.
Since managing ipad devices will require careful planning and clear set of procedures, I plan to have written rules and procedures posted on each of my five table groups. I would also have the i cloud turned on  for the sake of locating the devices.

Tools # 7 Reaching Outside your Classroom

Collaboration has been a part of my department (CATE) for many years.I believe Edmoto would make it easier for us this year. Our students will pratice Storytelling while using 21st Century tools to connect with students in other areas to promote cross cultural understanding and build networking system that is necessary for success in our global society.

Tool # 6 Using Web Tools to Promote Discussion

The first one I chose is Blogger since I am already a blogger. I will use it to communicate with my students. they will create accounts to help them post their assignments.
My second one isGoogle Docs since all the students have and account. I will have them activate their google accounts, add emails of their group members, and collaborate on a given topic in child development.

Tool # 5: WEB 2.0

Information overload! I am exited about Wordle because students will not have to create account before they can use it.. It will be exiting to see my students use it in our personality discovery and development unit instead of butcher paper and markers. It will also be beneficial in chapter vocabularies

Mixbook is another easy one I believe my students will use to create projects with their own pictures, instead of the good old powerpoint.

Tool # 4 Moving Up to The Clouds

Google docs is another avenue to share information which  also allows numerous individuals to work on one document from different places.

Below are two google docs links shared by Quinton Freeman.
Workshop: Guide for Course Registration
http://screencast.com/t/oakhfaCbsF

Workshop:  Guide for Out of District Courses and Portfolio Transcript
http://screencast.com/t/7pZINbpr
Students will use google docs to create and collaborate on assignment during and after instructional hours.

Tool 3 Online Videos and Resourses

It is important for students to understand what the copyright and far use laws entail in our evolving digital environment.I will teach and model this tool with videos to my studentds. I found Teacher Tube and Blikx most helpful.

Tool # 2 Online Community Building

Reading about the various ways to comment on blogs  was very helpful.and beneficial. It is also great to know and learn how to comment on another person's blog. Personal Learning network; a tool to connect with other educators and how to comment is very informative and I will be referring to it from time to time. I checked it out http://www.freetech4teachers.com/ that Holly posted and think it is great and I will use it  and may even follow it too.

TOOL # 1 Creating Blog

It has been a great experience learning how to blog. Thanks to Holly and Jan Marie for making it so easy. How about that talking avatar? It is wonderful to learn how to create a blog and I can't wait for my students to have fun with blogging this semester.
